Trip to explore the turtles &
tortoises of Florida
(private trip, if space opens up I will post info)
This was an
incredible trip. I would like to thank George Heinrich, our guide, for
his hard work, meticulous planning, and expertise in Florida turtles & tortoises.
Anyone who has read Carr’s Handbook of Turtles would have been on a dream trip
on this one. We literally snorkeled on the same waterways that Carr and
his associates did way back when. And
best of all, we had great success in finding the same types of turtles.
Our species count was 13. Florida
has over 20 species which accounts for 8% of the world’s turtle
diversity. You will see a story on this in an upcoming newsletter
article. Diane Brouhard organized this trip
with George, her hard work is greatly appreciated.
Watch for a detailed description of this
trip in an upcoming edition of marmorata.
If you would like to go on a trip to Florida, I encourage you
to contact George Heinrich directly.
